update for week ending 26 April 2024
The shape of things to come! The cladding walls are going up in the new Green Room extension, and store/workshop. Site Operative, Mike Hatch, below, is working in the Box Office which we have given up in order to accelerate work in there. The wall has been demolished and the windows will be blocked in. In the final stage there will be a clear line of sight from the new Box Office into the Gallery. The Box Office is temporarily relocated just inside the Café doorway. Remedial work continues on the Tower box gutter, but the new flat roof has stopped water leaking into the Aisles. Hopefully, the line of plastic containers to catch the rainwater will mellow into Ucheldre folklore. Good progress is being made on the new WCs including the Changing Place but in the meanwhile we are restricted to 2 WCs and no disabled lavatory. We continue to seek your forbearance with the ongoing works. Entry remains from the carpark to the side door – previously the Stage Door; this will be the new way in once all the work is completed. Access will be through a relocated shop and Box Office. Once again many thanks to the UK Government Levelling Up Fund with match funding from the Arts Council of Wales and Community Facilities Programme.
