Our Steinway has been rather lonely these past couple of years. However, she was recently lovingly, and thoroughly overhauled by Steinway’s amazing top man, Ulrich Gerhartz. Now she is ready to sonorously flow into life as Anglesey born international concert pianist Iwan Llewelyn-Jones returns to Ucheldre for a series of Sunday afternoon concerts in June, August and October 2022.
In choosing themes for his three recitals, Iwan has drawn inspiration from the rich maritime and cultural history of Holyhead. He will pay homage to some of the Town’s most celebrated musicians and poets, including organist and composer Bradwen Jones, legendary Holyhead-born soprano Ceinwen Rowlands, and national poet RS Thomas.
Join Iwan in his first concert when he performs some of the best-loved classical piano works of all time, including a selection by Chopin, Brahms, Debussy, as well as paying tribute to Ceinwen Rowlands with performances of his own transcriptions of songs she performed and received dedications by Meirion Williams, Osborne Roberts and Morfudd Llwyn Owen.
Make it a perfect day by having scones, bara brith and strawberries (maybe not yet from the Kitchen Garden). Pre-booking essential; £4.50 a head.
