Karen Ankers is a novelist, poet and playwright. Her recently released second novel, The Stone Dancers, is set in North Wales and tells the story of a woman trying to come to terms with her past. Karen’s first novel, The Crossing Place, has been described as “gripping”, “compelling”, “captivating”, “intriguing” and “brilliant”.
When she is not writing, Karen works as a freelance editor and writing mentor, and is a regular performer at local spoken word events. Her poetry is often socially motivated and her plays attempt to give a voice to those who would otherwise have none. Her fiction tends to have more a supernatural edge. She is deeply influenced by the Welsh landscape and by the Celtic storytelling tradition.
