Frankie Makin [Needle Felting]

I moved to Anglesey fourteen years ago and have been able to indulge my creative aspirations through the art of needle felting. I work in both 2D and 3D using barbed felting needles to push into layers of wool fibre onto a felt background. The pictorial images are inspired by the beautiful land and seascapes around me and of course the characterful faces of sheep.
Jane Griffiths [Batik]
My work is often based on organic forms and unspired by pattern and colour. I aim to “interpret rather than copy.” and pieces may evolve and change during the journey from initial conception to completion. Batik is a technique using hot wax. I first draw with the fluid wax onto fabric, creating. barrier lines to allow each area to be coloured using wiks or dyes. Once dry, move hot wax, and then colour is added, working from the lightest to darkest tone or shade. In this way many layers can be built up, with nicreasing complexity of detail.
