Aspects of Farming – (Two farming lives)

Exhibitions
Saturday 5 July 12:00 am - Sunday 31 August 5:00 pm
A mother and son exhibition of oil paintings and photography.

Twenty four years ago Anwen Roberts first solo exhibition opened here in the Ucheldre centre while she was heavily pregnant. So recently when an opportunity arose again to exhibit here, she decided to show her oil paintings alongside her son, now also a farmer and keen photographer.

A mother and son who are both visually inspired by their workplace. Showing different aspects of their farming lives that inspire them to create.

Exhibiting his photographs for the first time, Cai Jones farms the headlands of Rhoscolyn. He finds the beauty in an often harsh farming environment to capture peaceful or aesthetically pleasing colours and forms. While Anwen Roberts is drawn to the day to day of the people, places, animals, and activities, of the ever changing visual imagery seen within the agricultural sector.

‘I have a painting that I will exhibit titled ‘It’s good to talk…..and listen‘ If it is sold I would like to donate the money  to The DPJ Foundation. It is a charity that supports farmers who need help with any mental health issues they have. It’s a brilliant charity, that is very much needed, as there is a very high suicide rate of farmers due to the nature of their business, isolation and high pressures amongst other things.’ Anwen Roberts.
