Dilyw yn yr “haf”. Ond ar yr ochr ddisglair, dim gollyngiadau yn y Cloestr na’r eiliau – felly mae’r atgyweiriadau wedi gweithio! Milltiroedd yn fwy o geblau yn cael eu rhedeg, ond mae gosod y to wedi ei ohirio oherwydd y tywydd. Mae’r Compownd Adeiladwr yn edrych fel dinas gornen fach gyda’r insiwleiddiai yn barod i’w osod. Mae gan y to fflat, lle bydd y cychod gwenyn yn mynd, ardd blodau gwyllt fel rhan o’r gosodiad. Wedi’i gopïo isod lun o gynlluniau plannu eraill gyda detholiad o’r blodau i ddewis ohonynt. Mewn man arall, y mae’r muriau allanol mewn brics peirianyddol yn dyfod ym mlaen yn dda, er ei fod yn edrych fel pwll glo; mae’r morter yn drwchus iawn ac yn ddu. Yn wahanol i frics arferol, mae’n rhaid i’r gwaith o osod brics peirianyddol gael ei osod fesul cam gan mai dim ond cymaint o gyrsiau y gellir eu gosod er mwyn gallu setlo. Beth bynnag, yn mynd i edrych yn smart iawn ar ôl ei gwblhau.
Wrth edrych ymlaen, mae nodau dur cyntaf y Stiwdio Ddawns yn cael eu dosbarthu heddiw ar gyfer gosod y pren ymlaen llaw cyn dod i’r safle yn ystod wythnos gyntaf mis Medi. We have been blessed, amazingly, with some fine weather this week; this helps enormously with the further consolidation of the secondary timbers to the Dance Studio roof in anticipation of its covering. Discussions continue on the cladding and selection of the installer. The frames for the walls to the Dance Studio are going in; there will be two windows along with a skylight. First fixes are being made for the electrics and comms required for the lighting and sound equipment to be installed. There will be a patch bay into which for eg a dance tutor can easily plug in their iPhone to play music. Boogie Babies will be able to use the Studio as there will be lighting and projection available, as now, but with the added bonus of underfloor heating. The timber frame for the Art Studio will arrive from 14 October.

VRï
Saturday 3 October at 7.30pm
‘a magical feeling of weightlessness and uplifting freedom’
VRï are three young men from deepest, darkest chapel-going Wales who have mined the cultural upheaval of past centuries and drawn inspiration from the incredible story of a time when Wales’ traditional music and dance was suppressed by Methodist chapels, and, earlier, its language by the Act of Union. As audio archaeologists, VRï have unearthed long-lost nuggets that shed a new light on a vibrant folk tradition that harnesses the raw energy of the fiddle with the finesse of the violin, the beauty of chamber music with the joy and hedonism of a pub session. Their songs, sung with powerful vocal harmonies, tell stories of the people who struggled 200 years ago, just as many struggle today. It’s a wonderful and unique soundscape that connects across the centuries to give us a sense of belonging, of community, and a magical feeling of weightlessness and uplifting freedom.
VRï are Jordan Price Williams (cello, voice), Aneirin Jones (violin, voice) and Patrick Rimes (viola, violin, voice).
‘full of the fervent energy of these three players, this is ingenious ‘chamber trad’, something brand new for wales.’ GEORGIA RUTH, RADIO CYMRU
Pianist Iwan Llewelyn-Jones joins us for an afternoon recital.
